CJ Teffner Bio

CJ is a writer, performer and producer based in Phoenix, Arizona.

In addition to his own bands and releases, CJ is a celebrated songwriter, studio musician, producer and mastering engineer. Accolades include studio sessions with legendary producer Murray Krugman (Blue Oyster Cult) James Ball (Aerosmith, Joan Jett) David Henry (REM) and such notable players as Steve Bowman (Counting Crows) Marko Lira (Trouble) Ricky Porter (Godsmack), as well as Broadway’s noted guitarist and Windam Hill recording artist Sean Harkness, Fusion/Slap bass pioneer Jauqo III-X, Jeff Michaels, Robyn Cage, Jimena Arroyo, Danielle Hollobaugh and Torrey Mercer (executive producer).

Production credits include co-writing and producing many regional artists and bands, as well as acting as a mastering engineer for digital release of Absolute Brass, featuring Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Mark Egan, Dave Weckl, and Jim Hall among others. He also mastered the US high resolution digital release of Europe’s acclaimed jazz artist Jurgen Friedrich: Summerflood, feat. Kenny Wheeler. In 2020 CJ and Danie Hollobaugh were Finalists in the World Songwriting Competition. Two songs co-written with Argentina’s Jimena Arroyo were nominated at Premios Gardel, Argentina’s version of the Grammy’s.

Never one to settle on just one passion, CJ is also a trained sous chef and pastry chef, with a keen eye for detail. When he isn’t writing music he can be found working out, reading, entertaining friends and spending his time with his wife of 25 years and daughter.
